When a user enters a room, they are placed into a map of the game, which is comprised of multiple game rooms. Each game room is a sandbox, with the ability to be programmed to the user’s specifications via Lua. There are also community-created features such as sandboxes or add-ons.
In December 2007, Roblox made its first business acquisition by purchasing RobotGames, a small video game studio with two games, “Infectonator” and “Chillin’.” The RobotGames founders, David Baszucki and Erik Cassel, were given a six-figure sum to move their studios to the Roblox headquarters in San Mateo, California.
