The Lands Between is a Fantasy Action RPG set in a vibrant, limitless world filled with mysteries, conflict, and a fascinating story to be told.

Vast World, Sidequests, Easy to Start – I feel like this is what the game is lacking, and that’s really the only big issue that I have with the game. The world is big enough that you really don’t have to do much to explore it, there are sidequests that I think people wouldn’t really expect to find too often or at all, and they really don’t require much effort to unlock, and the story is easy to follow and the pacing is really solid. It’s clear that this is a very close and tight project, and that effort obviously paid off in the end. I think that many people think “Fantasy RPGs are dumb” or “these games are generic” but this game has so many things that people love in RPGs that I think it would really attract new players by offering a game that does enough for what people like and actually has some great ways to enjoy yourself in it.
On the subject of the unique online experience, the only thing that really suffers from it is the fact that the online experience is asynchronous instead of being a full on MMO experience, and I think that really hurts the experience as a whole and makes it feel like you can only really talk to your friends about what you are doing instead of truly feeling like a group on its own. Other than that, the game just feels so natural in every way. It’s a very vivid setting, and the 3D models of the game are so good that it really feels like you are exploring a huge, beautiful landscape. The art style really adds to that, it’s clean and it works great on a beautiful setting. I also really enjoy the music as a whole, it’s obviously got a ton of flair and a lot of character to it, and it really adds to the world.
Once you actually get to the story, I really enjoyed the themes involved here, they are really well done and they are done in a really original way. This is probably my favorite thing about the story, and it really stands out for me because they chose not to go the traditional route for fantasy stories. They are actually pretty unique in their approach to the themes as well. What makes the story fun is the fact that the game treats a lot of themes in different ways, like deifying characters and deities and such, and it really makes them feel real and to work well with the story.
