Zimbabwean Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa (photo) will meet his Indian counterpart Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday to discuss ways to alleviate the plight of Zimbabweans working and living in India, Zimparbzimpa, a daily, reported.
According to the daily, Chinamasa has been going to India since last year, and has paid special attention to the plight of Zim nationals in India.
“This was the suggestion of Chinamasa to the government to explore the possibility of Zimbabweans working and living in India and making use of medical services, without being arrested, before they can be deported to the mother country,” the daily reported.
A minister from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Chinamasa reportedly feels that Zim nationals in India should be granted the same rights as those in any other country.
Zimparbzimpa further reported that the ministry has produced a proposal and an agreement on how Zimbabweans can be granted travel documents.
“It is unclear as to what the minister will seek to discuss with Prasad, but the two will also meet members of the opposition, including the MDC (Move for Democratic Change),” the daily said.
Prasad is expected to hold separate talks with Chinamasa, on Tuesday.
