This is the high-definition update of the 2001 Mac only game. The Five Ordeals has been updated from original Mac only source code in C to Objective-C. This means you can run the game on most current Macs and even build an iPhone and iPad version of the game, a first for The Five Ordeals.
On top of the usual gameplay improvements, there are many new features, new graphics (with up to four times the number of sprites!), new sounds, and a brand new interface.
Additionally, I’ve added in all Apple new technologies and a bunch of other things that weren’t in the original version.
The game features a new management system that allows you to plan your attack on the pitch, or carefully craft the perfect team to beat your opponents.
You can also take on the rival manager in special challenges. Every time you complete a challenge, you receive a reward.

The main feature of this version of the game are the five new Guardian Ordeals. This is a sort of canon of gameplay and features, so it will be posted here for anyone to see.

To become a King you need to be made at least a little decent!
You get one wish that you can fulfill in four different ways.
First you can move your King dice directly on the position you want to play on.
Second you can start a new game with that same set of dice, that will be rolled twice.
The results of the first and the second roll will be combined with each other.

What’s new:

    As I’m not familiar with Puppy, I’ll be working on the fastest non-vanilla version of the project.

    The Puppy.iso is not required (although it does make a nice first simple speedrun attempt). I’m not sure if you realize how much work is being put into already existing tools like gfdl and checkroot, that are already aiming to provide a great graphical interface for debugging on your puppy.

    Please feel free to make suggestions to my speedrun or offer corrections to my script.

    It is one of the few speedrun projects with a clear time goal: Initial load in less than 20 seconds while having only one desktop.

    Next, you need to add to the script two not default applications: the maker of the initramfs script in case you have to edit it, or make one.

    Why speedrun?

    This script has been written to be used as simple and quick tool to diagnose crappy BIOS and badly written initramfs.
    So you have to win, but you can lose your data by making stupid mistakes you wouldn’t make with this script.

    A rootkit or just a bad BIOS? This utility will tell you.

    Why let Puppy’s userland go unsupported? This utility will also tell you what driver Puppy comes with and which frugal built-in kernel modules are not default.

    php-cgi – default temp directory does not exist. How to change?

    Since the default php temp directory is not writable by the webserver, we have to include it manually every time to have the directory with a writable temp dir.
    I have now a new case. A script is running from php and it creates a temporary file. The webserver (lighttpd) does not provide a temp directory. So I need to change this.
    I’m not sure if this should be changed here or in the php.ini.
