To start DFDC, please choose a case. The user can also select the type of ducts:

i) X-shape ducts: D1-D2 are the input and output ducts, D3 is the center duct. D4 is the main duct. D5 is the diffuser duct. D6 is the side duct.

ii) U-shape ducts: D1-D5 are the input and output ducts, D6 is the center duct. D7 is the diffuser duct.

iii) Six ducts: D1-D6 are the input and output ducts.

DFDC allows you to simulate the interaction between the fan, the ducts and the body (inlet or outlet ducts, center duct, diffuser duct, sides ducts and the body surface) and the ground. In other words, it is the virtual testing site. For example, the inlet duct can be simulated by loading the fan or body dimensions or the inlet duct pressure.

You can launch DFDC from the menu Tools > Simulation > Ducted Fan and then choose the desired case. You can use the main or the GUI interface to set the parameters of the case and the sound characteristics.

During the simulation, you can define which ducts are constrained. Once the simulation starts, the results of the analysis are shown in the area where the window and the aircraft are displayed in their final configuration.
