The DVD includes a live band performance of this song and 6 powerful worship songs that preceed the video of the live performance. The DVD also includes a special tribute music video featuring session musicians who played on the album to record this song.
Which brings me to the best example of their Gods massive heart. Hillsong preached on, and compiled albums after album of music that gave us a sense of His deep, out-of-nowhere love for sinners like David. But nothing compares to the impact of the single, pro-love song Hillsong has chosen to call Hillsong Hallelujah. This is one of my favorite worship-motivationals. Because while its message is universally relevant, Ive already heard it on every single of the Hillsongs albums.
And its not just the desire to see people come to Jesus that makes Hillsongs theology so fascinating. Its the style in which they talk about it, the marketing, and the messages in their sermons (sermons which, by the way, makes up a significant portion of the product). Hillsongs global success has made them a go-to place for much of the contemporary Christian music business. On a practical level, that means a significant amount of marketing money comes with the territory. And so, while it might have been the original concept for Hillsong to write the type of music it does, it also comes with a certain amount of pressure to please a certain kind of church. And so their hit-driven focus, which relies on the staccato timing of a song-chorus- chorus- verse- chorus, has made Hillsongs music into a product rather than an expression of the heart of God. Its something of a morality tale.

It is said ‘Alive’ was written before the release of their 2013 album No Place Like Home, featuring the song Feel Again from that album, and then six new songs are premiered. There is a lot of ‘in-between’ songs here – some more original and some well known covers, two of which are originals. One of the best tracks is The Journey Back Home, which features another one of our favourite MercyMe songs, Days of Elijah, originally released in 2008.
