Jayesh Bhatia of The Times Of India gave the film 3 out of 5 stars, praising the film for being a “successful Bollywood product with a punch” and stated, “The highly energetic screenplay, good photography, and some good punch-lines keep the proceedings interesting. But, the manner in which the action sequences are shot suggest that we might have missed a few cons.”

Joginder Tuteja of IANS too gave the film 3.5 out of 5 stars, and felt, “Mumbai Saga is an excellent first outing, where emotions and drama play a critical role in a film of this nature. The first half moves through with ease, the action and the mystery keeps you hooked and the story is well-made. The secret agent, with Mumbai as his base, takes you through the labyrinth of the underworld and worms away at the entire setup.

Ilya Chilikov of RealClearLife wrote – “Mumbai Saga, a crime thriller movie, underperforms as shown during the weekend, although it collects good numbers in a few cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. This is a smarter movie to go in just before the lockdown.

Amit Varma of NDTV rated of the film 2.5 out of 5 stars, gave a positive response, writing – “Mumbai Saga is a moderate-paced thriller based on Mumbai as a playground for over-the-hill gangsters with plenty of action scenes. The screenplay is full of twists and turns. There are many cameos, but none are as memorable as the lead actors and John Abraham”.

Mayank Shekhar of Mid Day gave 4 out of 5 stars stating, “The film opens to strong response from the audience, with ticket sales in Gurgaon, Mumbai and Delhi registering the highest sales numbers. It also has strong reviews with the audience in a good mood.”
