WSO2 Carbon Designing proper WSO2 architecture
Here is the basic of the WSO2 Architecture (1 and 2):
We have web application currently running in 3.2.1 that receive messages from 2.0.0 application and extract data from the message and place it in custom database tables.
We need to use WSO2 Cloud service for configuration/management and management of the 3.2.1 application. It’s a “read only” process. It’s not changing the database directly at this stage.
The WSO2 API manager would be used for the deployment/exchange of messages from the 3.2.1 application.
Question: If WSO2 API manager is used to migrate, configure, manage the application, how does API manager take the responsibility of communicating to 3.2.1 application to initiate a new data extraction and inserting into the database?

Here we only have API manager in communication and we have separate 3.2.1 application (for which we use SOA manager and not API manager) for which we use SSL connection, custom database driver and custom database.
Is my proposed architecture a good model for this architecture design?
Is this is the right way to do WSO2 and is the only right architecture for this problem?

Why even pass messages between the services? Both of them run as independant server apps, with different ports (or virtual hosts) and different set of user interfaces.
The idea is to treat API manager as a long living server instance, allowing easy management. It can easily be scaled out, moving from 1 instance to 2 or 3 when the load increases.
It also hosts a set of default APIs, allowing easy retrieval of values from the database, using HTTP GET.
You can of course host your own APIs, for example managing your own database, using the admin console of
